1810It seems with every presidential election we have in the United States there is always substantial drama on both sides of the aisle. No matter which side we are on, we are all sure that our side is right. We argue. We complain. We mistrust each other. And yet no matter what, we are always sure we have the correct answer. That our side is the side that should be in charge and the one to make the world better again. Of course, it never quite works out the way we want it to. And yet, even though the major streams of interest that were so important during the election season tend to fade away once the new king or queen is anointed, there are still real-world impacts that happen whenever Washington changes hands. Arguably, this election holds the very real possibility of being quite different than many we are accustomed too. This new administration holds some very extreme views compared to many in the past, as evidenced by their willingness to ban even valid green card holders from entering the United States. With this in mind, those in the adult entertainment industry would be wise to be on guard. The incoming Attorney General is no fan of adult entertainment and has vowed to enforce obscenity laws vigorously.
But Why Go After Pornography?
The short answer is, because porn is a hot button for Evangelicals and Mormons, and not in a good way either. Of course, the ultra-moral Evangelicals hate pornography and they always have. Mormons consider porn to be a public health crisis. The state legislature just declared it so. When you consider that these two groups comprise the largest voting base for the current administration, it’s not a far stretch at all to see them pushing the new AG to go after pornography. Immoral or not. Protected or not. Legal or not. None of those things matter at all. All that matters is that their constituents hate it and want it gone. Period. The incoming Attorney General is no fan of adult entertainment and has vowed to enforce obscenity laws vigorously. This does not sound like a friendly relationship is waiting in the wings.
But What About The First Amendment?
Don’t kid yourself that you are protected by the constitution. That can and will be overridden if its what they want to do. The way they play that game is simple. Haven’t you been watching? Sure, they may be violating your rights. But by the time you can do anything about it, they’re already ten steps ahead of you. You haven’t the resources to fight this overwhelming hatred of your career choice. If they want to stop you they will. They will simply make it not worth your effort to keep fighting. Make no mistake! They will get their way if it’s what they want.
Because Real Porn Is A Liberal Thing
The POTUS is no longer a liberal. Somewhere in the last few years, something happened. Maybe it was his racism and therefore a predictable hatred of Obama for being black. Nobody knows for sure. For whatever reason, he now hates liberals and everything liberal. So even though he has been in some softcore porn himself, there is no doubt that he would direct his AG to go after the Adult Industry if he thought it would upset liberals. He needs no more motivation than the dislike of liberals. Remember, liberals are the enemy because they did not support him. They dared question him and now they must suffer.
But What Could They Actually Do?
They can actually do a lot! Did you see what almost happened in California? Hello? Got your 2257s in order? The intention of this post is to scare you into being aware. Do not become complacent because you think they can’t do very much to you. They can easily make your life a living hell just because they want you to go away. They do not need to jail you to be rid of you. Are you aware that abortion is legal in the United States? Are you seeing what’s happening there? Porn won’t be far behind if they’re successful at banning abortion. And they are probably going to succeed at finally doing that. They can also legislate restrictions on your products to devalue them in the eyes of the consumer and make your sales plummet. They can shut you off from access to your customers by declaring your products “obscene” and making your customers prove their age with paperwork! They can demand that credit card processors stop processing charges for porn. They can declare that eighteen-year-old is underage and force you to spend all your money proving she’s an adult. All – your – money. Got that?
So What Can You Do?
The best approach is to get educated and get involved. Know your rights and how to protect them.
